Let’s Reach 16 in ’16 pledges. Top state wins a prize

Together, we can meet our goal!

Since we first launched the IT CAN WAIT campaign, we’ve achieved more than 10 million pledges to “keep your eyes on the road, not on your phone.” It’s because of grassroots efforts by more than 2,500 organizations, like yours, that so many people have pledged — and meant it.

While getting to 10 million pledges is a great accomplishment, we’re not stopping there. That is why, by the end of 2016, we want to reach more people with this message and reach 16 million pledges.

To help achieve this, we’ve created a little friendly competition. If you’re interested, visit this month and follow the prompts to create your own “team,” which can be made up of friends, family, colleagues — whoever you’d like — and encourage them to take the pledge with you. You choose a team name that is meaningful to you. During the month of October, anyone who texts “WAIT (space)
[TEAMNAME]” to 50555 will count as one pledge for your team. That’s WAIT [TEAMNAME]. Come the end of October, the team who has generated the most pledges will receive their own virtual reality distracted driving simulator tour experience, or will get the opportunity to donate $5,000 from AT&T to a nonprofit organization with a safe driving program in action or in process.

While we are proud millions have committed not to text and drive, we know that getting to 16 million by the end of 2016 requires all of us to spread this important message: It Can Wait.

PS: See if our Simulator Tour is making a stop near you!
